Celebration of Real Food success

The inaugural Celebration of Real Food held here at Broadfield Court was a huge success and we were absolutely delighted with the way it all went.
The event, which celebrated the best of locally produced food, attracted hundreds of visitors, all of whom seemed to thoroughly enjoy themselves.
They were treated to delicious food and drink, as well as music and arts and crafts, courtesy of the stallholders whose produce was situated in the marquee, courtyard and grounds of Broadfield Court.
The event was the brainchild of Alexandra James of Broadfield Court , and Robert Elliott and Sally Dean who run the acclaimed Aspen House B&B at Hoarwithy.
Mr Elliott, the author of The Food Maze and How To Eat Like There's No Tomorrow, said: "We were absolutely delighted with the way the day went.
"Considering that there were several other events taking place on the same day we couldn't have asked for any more.
"The weather was fantastic, Broadfield Court was looking beautiful and what was particularly pleasing was that the visitors really seemed to buy into the ethos behind real food and its benefits.
"I truly believe that they left at the end of the day happy in the knowledge that they need look no further than the wealth of excellent producers on our doorstep for the best possible food and drink."
As well as being able to enjoy all the food and drink which was available, there were talks and discussions on the benefits of sourcing locally produced food which is fresh, in season and free of chemicals and factory processes.
Mrs James said: "We will most certainly be considering running this as an annual event.
"The feedback from all the stallholders and visitors has been so positive.
"It certainly went beyond our expectations but there were still lessons to be learnt which we will bear in mind for future events which we are confident will make it even more successful."
